In response to sharp criticism towards the IDF for its firing at a UNRWA building in central Gaza City on Thursday, the IDF placed the blame at the Hamas terrorists. According to Channel-10 news, army officials claim that terrorists were shooting anti-tank rockets from the UNRWA compound towards IDF troops stationed nearby. In response, the IDF returned fire.
In a press conference, UN Sec.-Gen. Ban ki-Moon stated that Defense Minister Ehud Barak told him that the attack “was a grave mistake.”
On the other hand, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert stated that although he is very sorry what happened, he nevertheless mentioned that Israeli troops were attacked.
