Likud Mks sharply criticized comments made over the weekend by Dan Meridor, in which he said that Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann had badly hurt the Israeli justice system. "Wherever I go, people talk about Friedmann. This is a battle we have lost. I cannot remember such damage to the faith of the public in the justice system, and so many complaints about the system," Meridor said, attributing the complaints and lack of faith to actions and comments by Friedmann.

Several Likud Mks denounced Meridor's comments. "Meridor's comments are unacceptable to me and many Likud members," MK Michael Eitan said. "If Meridor wants to change Likud policy, the correct way is through the party's institutions, not declarations in the press." MK Gilad Erdan said that "nearly all the reforms instituted by Friedmann were correct and proper, and the Likud supports them. The Likud's stance on the legal system are substantially different than Meridor's," he said.
