Large forces of policemen at this hour are chasing Arabs who are throwing stones at the Peace House, where hundreds of Jews are staying. No one was injured. The presence of large numbers of policemen set off false rumors in the Jewish community of Kiryat Arba-Hevron that the government had ordered the expulsion of the Jewish residents.
A High Court decision has given the government the option of expelling the residents although a civil court has not yet determined who is the legal owner. Government officials and media have incorrectly reported that the High Court ordered the government to expel the Jewish residents. Hundreds of Jews have moved into the Peace House the past week to help ward off the possibility of an immediate expulsion.
