Bush Compares UN Charter with Torah and Koran

American President George W. Bush told the United Nations General Assembly Tuesday that the U.N. charter is based on the values in the Torah, Koran and the Bible. [The Torah comprises the first five books of the Bible.-ed]

"The ideals of the charter are now facing a challenge as serious as any since the U.N.'s founding: a global movement of violent extremists," President Bush stated. "By delivering murder -- by deliberately murdering the innocent to advance their aims, these extremists…reject the words of the Bible, the Koran, the Torah, or any standard of conscience or morality."

He did not detail references to the Koran or the Torah.
