Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas will fly to the United States to talk with American President George W. Bush Friday morning, Sept. 16, the PA announced Tuesday night. The White House did not confirm or deny the report but said it is a possibility because "there are so many leaders who are going to be in the country at the same time" for the United Nations General Assembly meeting beginning September 23.
The two leaders will "evaluate the Israeli-Palestinian negotiation process and discuss the obstacles that prevent reaching an accord," according to PA negotiator Saeb Erakat.
