The U.S. is pressuring Israel and Turkey to cease the indirect negotiations between Israel and Syria that are taking place with Turkish mediation in Istanbul.
According to Al-Bayan, a newspaper which is published in the United Arab Emirates, the reason for the U.S. pressure is Syria's agreement to place Russian missiles on it territory, an agreement Syria denies giving.
The U.S. is upset with Syria's publicly siding with Russia regarding the Georgian conflict.
