The record-breaking number of tourists to Israel has encouraged U.S. Airways to apply for permission to open up a direct route between Tel Aviv and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Service will begin next July if the application is approved.
The route would allow passengers in the Washington-Baltimore-southern Pennsylvania area to fly from a more convenient point than airports in New York and New Jersey, which are further away.
