Goldwasser and Regev Were Killed in Initial Attack

An examination of the bodies of kidnapped IDF soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev determined that the two reservists were killed during the initial cross-border attack and not in captivity, official said. Goldwasser was killed after a rocket-propelled grenade on their IDF Hummer vehicle injured him in the chest. Regev was shot in the head, possibly while he was trying to escape.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said a year ago that there were indications that the soldiers still were alive, and later reports by government officials left the impression that at least one of the soldiers might still be alive.
