Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the cabinet Sunday that his trip to the U.S. this week will have "great importance, especially as regards the subjects that are at the roots of Israel's survival."

The diplomatic-security cabinet meeting which was planned to discuss the situation in the southern front was postponed until next week. Olmert said Sunday that the government would fulfill its promise to act in order to give residents of the south a "feeling" of security.
