Students of Rabbi Chaim Druckman will hold a rally in his honor next Thursday as a sign of support. The rally will be attended by several leading rabbis in the national-religious movement, including Rabbi Yaakov Ariel, Rabbi Mordechai Greenberg, Rabbi Tzfania Drori, Rabbi She’ar Yishuv HaCohen, and Rabbi Elyakim Levanon.
“Jerusalem was destroyed only because Torah scholars were despised within the city,” organizers said, quoting the Talmud to show the seriousness of insulting Torah scholars. The organizers say Rabbi Druckman has been insulted and dishonored despite decades of work on behalf of the Jewish people. While they did not point to a specific incident, it seems they were referring to a recent case in which Rabbi Druckman’s conversions were called into question.
