Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik (Kadima) said that Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas told her in a telephone conversation that he is backing down on his plan to honor five female terrorists, including one who directed the suicide terrorist who blew up the Sbarro restaurant in Jerusalem in 2001.
Foreign Minster Tzipi Livni previously told Stephen Hadley, a security advisor to American President George W. Bush, that honoring the terrorists would raise serious questions about the PA's intentions to halt terrorism and incitement against Israel.
