Police Commissioner Dudi Cohen paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Rabbinate and met with Israel's chief rabbis, Rabbi Yonah Metzger and Rabbi Shlomo Amar. The two told him there was no halachic problem with carrying a weapon during prayers.

The rabbis thanked the police for their activity, which, they said, "makes it possible for every home in Israel to celebrate the holidays." They discussed security arrangements for synagogues, which will involve Civilian Guard volunteers.
