American President George W. Bush probably will visit Masada during his planned visit next month, according to the Hebrew daily Haaretz. He will avoid places such as the Western Wall, which might anger the Palestinian Authority. American officials stressed that the itinerary is subject to security considerations.

The current agenda calls for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to accompany the president to Masada, where Jews staged their last stand against Roman conquerors 2,000 years ago.

President Bush also plans to address the Knesset and meet a group of American immigrants.
