Security forces have gone on alert for a possible terrorist attack in Jerusalem. Motorists are advised that traffic is jammed in the northern parts of the city, where checkpoints have been set up.

The alert comes several days after Israel removed 50 roadblocks and barriers throughout Judea and Samaria following pressure by American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. She has demanded that Israel ease restrictions on Arab travel despite an escalation of rock, firebomb and shooting attacks on Jewish drivers.
