Security officials announced Sunday that Israel will remove the checkpoint between Jericho and the Dead Sea.  The checkpoint will be taken down for the first time since the beginning of the Oslo War in 2000.

In addition to the removal of the checkpoint, Israel is planning a series of “gestures” to the Palestinian Authority to make travel easier for PA Arabs despite ongoing terrorist attacks along roads in Judea and Samaria and in the rest of Israel.  Among other relaxations of security, Israel will remove one or two additional checkpoints and dozens of roadblocks.
