Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier criticized Israel for counterterrorist operations against Gaza terrorists that harm civilians. "Israel has a clear right to defend itself, including against terrorists plotting attacks. That said, we are very concerned by the impact on civilians of measures taken by the government of Israel, such as increased military operations, restrictions on border crossings and reductions in the delivery of vital goods and services," he stated.
Israeli Ambassador to Canada Alan Baker rejected the comments as "irresponsible allegations and insinuations" and added that force is necessary to reduce the escalating rocket attacks on Israel.
