Gaza terrorists continued attacking the western Negev with rockets on Wednesday evening, with the total number of rocket attacks since Wednesday morning reaching 42. One rocket landed near Barzilai hospital in Ashkelon, where victims of earlier attacks were receiving treatment. Other rockets landed in and around Ashkelon as well, and residents of southern Ashkelon reported a blackout.
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert responded to the attacks from Japan, warning that “no one in Hamas, not the low-level officials nor the highest echelon, will be immune” from Israel’s response. Israel will take “appropriate measures” to end the attacks, Olmert’s aides said.
