Israel experienced an unusually high number of road accidents over the weekend.  Six people were killed in accidents on Friday and Saturday, and an addition two died early on Sunday morning.

One of the men killed on Sunday morning was a Palestinian Authority Arab who was hit by a truck near the town of Kiryat Sefer, while the second man was hit by a truck near Rehovot.  Police say the second man was drunk, and apparently ran into the road on purpose.

Other victims have been identified as 88-year-old Miriam Barzilai of Bnei Brak, who was hit while crossing the street, 21-year-old Adib Abu-Hamud, whose car hit a tree, 59-year-old Shmuel Mordo, who was hit by a car while riding his bike, and nine-year-old Nimrod Yanai of Tel Aviv, who was hit by a car while on a trip with family friends.  Yanai’s mother, a single parent with no other children, decided to donate his organs.
