At a weekend meeting of the One Home group, which purports to represent Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria who allegedly want to move back to green line Israel, Infrastructures Minister Binyamin Ben Eliezer said that the only way Israel could hope to strike a deal with the Palestinian Authority was by negotiating with a strong leader – specifically, imprisoned terrorist Marwan Barghouti, serving five life sentences in an Israeli prison for his role in the direct and indirect murders of over 30 Israelis.
Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas is just not strong enough to strike such a deal, he said. “Real results and the ability to conclude a deal are only possible when you have a strong leader across from you." Ben-Eliezer said. “I believe that this person is sitting in Israeli jail. We must release Marwan Barghouti,” he said.
