Jewish groups in Pasadena, California have protested to an Episcopalian church for hosting a pro-Arab activists' conference, whose subject was billed "From Occupation to Liberation: Voices We Need To Hear." The event, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, is sponsored by the American branch of the Jerusalem-based Sabeel organization. The same group staged a conference in Boston last year that raised a storm of protest by the local Jewish community.
The Pasadena church has enjoyed good relations with the Jewish community, which backed it when the Internal Revenue Service tried to take away its tax-exempt status after a preacher delivered an anti-war sermon.
