Iran and the Palestinian Authority (PA) are the top two items that will be discussed by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on his three-day visit to Germany. Prime Minister Olmert arrived in Germany Sunday night, and the two leaders will meet Monday night and Tuesday. He and Chancellor Angela Merkel "will discuss the serious problem of Iran's nuclear program," an Israeli official told the French news agency AFP.
"We expect further efforts in terms of economic and political pressure on Iran to renounce its nuclear projects, and Germany is a key player in this," he added. Iran reportedly has tested an advanced centrifuge at its nuclear center, prompting fears that it soon will be able to enrich uranium faster and use it for nuclear weapons.
Prime Minister Olmert also will brief his German counterpart on negotiations with the Palestinian Authority (PA).
