American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has called on Egypt to ensure safety along the international border that divides the city of Rafiah. En route to Colombia, Secretary Rice told reporters, "I understand that it's a difficult situation for them, but it is an international border. It needs to be protected."
Egypt has rejected an Israel demand to seal the border after masked terrorists from Gaza blew up 17 holes in the 20-foot high and 200-yard long barrier that Israel built as part of the withdrawal from Gush Katif two and a half years ago.
