Seven Jewish senators, none of whom have endorsed a Democratic presidential candidate, have defended Sen. Barack Obama against an e-mail campaign against him that includes accusations that he is a Muslim. The e-mail claimed that Obama pretends to be a Christian and that he will allow Al Qaeda to take over the White House if he is elected.
In an open letter to the Jewish community, the Jewish senators noted that an earlier hoax suggested "that U.S. Sen. Obama attended a fundamentalist Muslim religious school...as a child living in Indonesia and that his childhood education was steeped in radical Islam." Obama attended a non-Muslim public school in Indonesia from the ages of six to 10.
