(IsraelNN.com) The government responded on Wednesday to a petition to the Supreme Court demanding that the government provide protective shielding for buildings in Sderot.  The government told the court that it is unable to decide how to protect Sderot from rocket attacks at this time.

Terrorists are using rockets with longer ranges, and more cities are coming under attack, officials explained, so whatever the government does in Sderot will set a precedent.  The government cannot afford to provide protective shielding for larger cities, they said.

Government officials requested time to determine a set policy regarding the circumstances under which buildings will be shielded, the method of shielding to be used, and sources of funding before making a final decision on Sderot.  Billionaire Arkadi Gaydamak has announced that he will provide NIS 90 million to protect Sderot buildings.
