Save a Child’s Heart (SACH), an Israel-based humanitarian organization, will perform its first open heart surgery on a child from Kenya at the Wolfson Medical Center (WMC) in Holon Monday. The patient is a seven-year-old child with a large hole between the two main chambers of his heart, making even simple activities strenuous.

Kenya has been rocked by violence since elections two weeks ago that opposition leaders say was rigged.

SACH provides Israeli expertise free-of-charge to children with heart malfunctions around Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Many patients come from enemy countries, including the Palestinian Authority and Iraq.
