In his greeting to US President George W. Bush at Ben Gurion International Airport Wednesday afternoon, Israeli President Shimon Peres had words of praise – and warning – for the American leader.

"We take your advice to not underestimate the Iranian threat. Iran should not underestimate our resolve for self-defense," Peres said. During Israel's 60-year history, he added, "We were attacked seven times – we never lost a war."

Pointing out that the American president has remained focused on the goal of 'two states living side by side in peace and security' Peres noted that what once was a statement has now become "the basis for negotiations." He added, "Wars are never too late, peace is never too early."
