(IsraelNN.com) MK Yoram Marciano (Labor) asked the government Wednesday to permanently transfer all Jews from the neighborhood of Ramat Eshkol in Lod and turn it into an Arab neighborhood. Marciano, who lives in Lod, said: "the situation in the neighborhood is very difficult. The Jews have no security in the neighborhood; they do not want to live there and only live there because they have no choice."
According to press reports this week, Jews in Ramat Eshkol are regularly pelted with rocks when they attempt to go to the synagogue. Residents said they do not wear their kippot (head covering) for fear of being attacked.
Marciano said he would be praying at the neighborhood's synagogue on Saturday, as a show of solidarity with the Jewish residents.
