A report by the U.S. release Monday saying that Iran had stopped nuclear weapons development in 2003 will not change Israel's effort to block Iran from continuing its nuclear development activities, said Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

"The report is familiar to me and I discussed it with other prime ministers during my stay in the United States," commented Olmert.

"Even after this report, the American stance will still focus on preventing Iran from attaining nuclear capability. We will expend every effort along with our friends in the U.S. to prevent the Iranian's from developing nuclear weapons," he added.

Iran welcomed the American report, with officials reiterating claims that the Islamic Republic is intent only upon developing nuclear energy for peaceful domestic purposes.
