According to Nfc, Civilian Administration official Captain Ronit Levin told a government committee that the sale of the Peace House in Hevron was legal and “kosher.”  Nevertheless, the Supreme Court decided to evict Jewish residents of the building, arguing that they had “invaded” the space.  Levin is among those who signed the eviction order.

Jews bought the four-story Peace House in Hevron in response to a fatal terrorist attack on Worshippers Way, the path from Hevron to nearby Kiryat Arba.  After Jewish families moved in, the original owner, Faiz Rajbi, argued that his signature had been forged on the documents of sale.  As a Palestinian Authority Arab, Rajbi could have been sentenced to death under Jordanian law if he were found to have sold property to a Jew.
