According to Yediot Acharonot, the Egged bus company recently canceled an ad campaign by “The Committee to Save the People and the Land.” Committee activists said they had purchased approximately 1,000 signs saying “Olmert is Running from the Police to Annapolis,” and planned to place the signs on Egged buses. The purpose of the ad was to show the absurdity of prime ministers who cover investigations against them by taking drastic political steps, they said.
Activists said the ad had been approved by a company in charge of placing ads on buses, but that Egged rejected the ad at the last minute, saying it was untrue. The group lost tens of thousands of shekels on the canceled deal, they said, and plans to sue Egged. Spokesmen for Egged have not yet responded to the group’s claims.
