Six activists were arrested on Thursday during the violent expulsion of Jews from the new community of Harchivi, near Elon Moreh. Activists accused police officers of violence. One officer attempted to hit Rabbi Elyakim Levanon, head of the local yeshiva, activists said. When a student attempted to intervene, they said, he was beaten and arrested.
Activists also accused police of attempting to arrest a woman in her sixth month of pregnancy who had not been involved in the expulsion. When the woman refused to be arrested, saying she had done nothing wrong, police dragged her along the ground, they said. The woman was forcibly arrested by male officers despite the fact that women must be arrested by female officers, they said.
