Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has sent two representatives to Syria, allowing the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad to participate in diplomatic positioning before the planned Annapolis, Maryland conference. The United States has not announced an official date for the meeting, but the last week of November has been publicized as a likely possibility.
Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) representatives in Syria told the Gulf States-based Al-Halig newspaper that the two PA delegates are coordinating positions with senior officials in the Assad regime.
