MK Professor Avishai Braverman (Labor) said Monday that Secondary School Teachers Association representatives should hold a 24-hour meeting with government officials to solve an ongoing strike.  Teachers should be the top priority, he said.  “I say this with pain: Annapolis is important, but Israeli education is more important than Annapolis.”

MK Eliyahu Gabbai (NU/NRP) agreed that politics had detracted from the focus on education, saying that Education Minister Yuli Tamir “gave all of her attention to political problems and not to problems of education and teaching.”  He called on Tamir to quit, saying she had “brought only damage” as head of the Education Ministry.
