Arab Delegates Discuss Boycott of Israel

Delegates from 14 Arab states and the territories controlled by the Palestinian Authority met in the Central Boycott Office in Damascus on Monday to discuss a boycott against Israel.  Jordan and Egypt, which have both signed peace treaties with Israel, did not attend the meeting.

The Central Boycott Office works to figure out which companies do business with Israel, and then prevent those companies from operating in the Arab world.  The meeting’s organizers said they were boycotting Israel due to Israel’s “occupation of Arab land.”  Boycott office head Mohammed Ajani said the boycott remained popular among the Arab world.  He rejected the possibility of peace with Israel, saying peace was “a mirage and a lie.”
