The level of the Kinneret has dropped 1.43 meters (4 feet, 8 inches) since last May and is 3.66 meters (12 feet) below the level where dams would have to be opened to prevent flooding in the beachfront city Tiberias. The Kinneret on average rises less than two meters (6 feet, 6 inches) during the winter season.
Meteorologists' models used for predicting this winter's rainfall have not yet been released, but the Metotek firm already has forecast that this season's rainfall will exceed the average.
