Opposition leader Binyamin (Bibi) Netanyahu told a special session of the Knesset Wednesday night that Yigal Amir must remain in jail the rest of his life for assassinating Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin. The Likud leader and former Prime Minister said the killing "was not just another murder" but a political act that cannot be tolerated.
He took the opportunity to take a swipe at Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's plan to divide Jerusalem between the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Israel and noted Rabin's determination that the capital remain undivided. "There is no argument about one subject--the unification of Jerusalem," he quoted Rabin as having told the Knesset.
