MK Yossi Beilin, head of the secular Meretz party, uncharacteristically called upon Hashem to avenge the blood of a Jew, Yitzchak Rabin.
Beilin is speaking before the Knesset plenum and presenting a law calling for the forcible eviction of the entire Jewish community from the biblical City of Patriarchs, Hevron. He told the Knesset that following the killing of 29 Arabs by Dr. Baruch Goldstein in the Cave of Machpelah in 1994, then-Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin decided to kick the Jews out of Hevron.
In mentioning Rabin's name, Beilin used the religious term "Hashem Yikom Damo" – which means "may G-d avenge his blood."
