US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice received a cold shoulder from Israel regarding her pressure that Israel sign a final status agreement of principles with the Arab occupants of the Land of Israel (Palestinian Authority), according to Maariv/NRG.
In Rice's afternoon meeting with Tzipi Livni, her Israeli counterpart, Livni told Rice that Israel does not want agreements of principles in the upcoming diplomatic summit with the Arabs, only declarations. "We need to have realistic expectations with regard to the summit," Livni said.
Livni added, however, that Israel was "very interested in the summit's success," and asked the U.S. to help in achieving support for the summit from Arab countries.
