A large prayer gathering is set to take place today (Tuesday) at the Western Wall in Jerusalem on behalf of Rabbi Avraham Shapira, whose medical condition has declined in recent days.
The prayers will begin at 6:30 PM. Those who cannot attend are also asked to pray for the recovery of HaRav Avraham Elkana HaKohen ben [son of] Henna Raizel.
Rabbi Shapira, a former chief rabbi and the head of the Merkaz HaRav Kook Yeshiva, is considered one of the leaders of Religious Zionism. He made waves prior to the 2005 Disengagement when he called upon IDF soldiers to refuse to take part in the expulsion.
