President Shimon Peres used his meeting with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to invite US President George W. Bush to be a guest of honor in the State of Israel's 60th anniversary celebrations next year.

"When Condoleezza Rice arrives in the region she brings hope and freshness, this time more than ever," said Peres. "I believe that the Israeli public longs to see peace."

Rice signed the guestbook in the President's Residence and said that "in his attempts to reach peace, Peres is an inspiration for anyone who seeks peace and democracy."
