The Yesha Council has demanded that Defense Minister Amir Peretz rescind the eviction notice against Jewish residents who moved into the four-story Peace House in Hevron last month. The Jews have been ordered to leave the premises by April 19; however, there is wide opposition against the eviction by Knesset members across the board.

The demand comes in the wake of a stabbing attack Sunday on two Border Guard police officers by a 17-year-old Palestinian Authority terrorist.  The Council called on Peretz to focus his attention on upgrading security for Jewish residents in Hevron, rather than on ways to expel them.
