Employees of the Israel Electric Company walked off the job Tuesday afternoon to protest government reforms in the electricity sector. The wildcat strike was called by workers due to the unilateral decision to privatize and divide the company.
It is not clear how long the strike will last. Workers say they won’t return to their jobs until the Finance and National Infrastructure Ministries come to the negotiation table over the reforms.
Employees say they will restrict service to dealing with life-threatening situations involving hospitals, security issues and similar scenarios.
