(IsraelNN.com) Dozens of sheiks and other Muslims marched in Hebron on Wednesday to protest recent remarks that were made by Pope Benedict XVI that some have interpreted as insulting to Islam.

"All this anger will not stop unless the pope apologizes to the entire Islamic world about what he said about our Prophet Muhammad," said Sheik Taissir Tamimi, one of the protesters.

The Pope had quoted a Medieval text which called the teachings of Muhammad "evil and inhuman," particularly "his command to spread by the sword the faith."

Although the Pope has explained that the quote does not reflect his personal views, Muslims world-wide have staged protests and attacked Christian churches.
