The Jewish people, as well as the Jewish state, have many traditions. Some, like eating matzah on Passover, go back thousands of years and are Biblically commanded. Others, like covering people with shaving cream on Israel Independence Day, have no known source that I am aware of.
If I were arranging the VIP visits, things would be handled differently.

It appears that another ritual along the lines of shaving cream has been added to Israeli culture. From Prime Minister to Pope and all visiting VIPs in between, I am able to predict with certainty their first day itinerary. Every "important" diplomat will be given a tour of Yad Vashem, Israel's Holocaust Museum.

Though I have never personally been invited to attend the dignitaries' welcome at Yad Vashem, I can imagine that the speeches go something like this:

Beloved Guest from one of the Nations of the World, thank you for coming to the State of Israel. We have just celebrated 61 years of our existence. Please look closely at the photos and listen carefully to the documentaries in this museum. They depict the atrocities perpetrated against the Jewish people by the Nazis. The State of Israel was founded in order to assure that this will never happen again. The Jewish people need a land of refuge against the hate of the non-Jewish world. Israel is our oasis.

I imagine that the VIP walks around Yad Vashem thinking, "Terrible, shocking, truly unimaginable," and that the Israeli representative feels that he has done his part to prove the need for the Jewish people to have a state of their own. Mutual pleasantries are exchanged as Mr. Foreigner bids farewell and continues his visit.

Sometimes, we are able to gain insight into the influence that the Yad Vashem tour has on our guests. For instance, the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was excited to pay his respects to Yasser Arafat, the father of modern terrorism, by visiting his grave site.

The German Bishop Gregor Maria Franz Hanke stated after his Holocaust Museum tour that, "This morning we saw pictures of the Warsaw Ghetto at Yad Vashem and this evening we are going to the Ramallah ghetto."

Cardinal Joachim Meisner, the Archbishop of Cologne, stated, as his group crossed an Israeli counter-terrorism checkpoint, "This is something that is done to animals, not to people. The security fence sparks memories of the Berlin Wall."

United States President Barack Obama just traveled to his friends in the Middle East, the Egyptians and Saudi Arabians. Israel was not on his agenda, although it was certainly in his statements. Mr.
First, I would take out an "Old Testament-Bible", known to the Jewish people as the Torah.
Obama came out strongly for a two-state solution, insisted on the stoppage of building for natural growth by Jews in Samaria, Judea and Jerusalem, and remained insistent that Israel make even more concessions to the Palestinians.

After his Middle East visit, Mr. Obama flew to Europe. Ironically, his first stop was to the Buchenwald concentration camp, as if to say, "Don't worry Jewish people. I may not have visited Israel, but I did the 'Holocaust memorial stopover as a dignitary duty' thing and felt terrible; shocking, truly unimaginable."

If I were arranging the VIP visits, things would be handled differently. First, I would take out an "Old Testament-Bible", known to the Jewish people as the Torah. I would read recurrent statements from G-d declaring that He has given the Land of Israel to the Jewish people.

I would then bring Mr. Dignitary to Har HaBayit, the Temple Mount, and state:

Two Jewish Temples stood here some 2,000 years ago. The first was destroyed by the Babylonians. The second was destroyed by the Romans. The Jewish people have never lost faith that the third Temple will be rebuilt in this exact location, as G-d promised us. In fact, Jews all over the world pray three times a day while facing Jerusalem, unlike the Muslims who pray facing Mecca. For thousands of years, the Jewish people commemorate the destruction of our Temples on the ninth of the Jewish month of Av by sitting on the floor, crying and praying for our Temple to be rebuilt.

Please, Mr. Dignitary, look what the Muslim Wakf has done to our most holy site. They have built mosques and placed latrines and ball fields. Worst of all, they have dug up the Temple Mount without archaeological supervision, with the full intention of destroying all proof of the Jewish claim to the area.

Then, I would take our visitor to Samaria and Judea to see the mansions. Not the mansions of the Jews, who are forbidden to build without endless bureaucratic red tape, but to the illegally built magnificent homes of the Palestinians. You see, their extensive building has been ignored for some time. Contrary to world opinion, those "poor and suffering" Palestinians seem to be doing quite well in the State of Israel.

Next would be visiting Israeli hospitals. When entering, however, you might think that you are in Jordan or Lebanon, since Israeli hospitals are bursting with the healing of Arabs. Rooms and hallways are filled with them. In fact, it is Israeli law that if a terrorist survives his murderous mission he will be included in the triage - since everyone receives equal medical treatment.

To complete the trip, we would visit Gaza, formerly known as Gush Katif. First, we would go to the Gush Katif museum in Jerusalem and view pictures showing that the area was nothing but sand. The Jews caused the desert to bloom with their production of fruits, vegetables and flowers. We built thriving communities where three generations of Jewish families lived, served in the army and, with a pure faith, used themselves as human shields against the Palestinian desire to shoot rockets at Sderot, Ashdod and the rest of Israel.

Our visitor would now see that Gush Katif is not only totally devoid of its once-thriving Jewish villages, but that the Palestinians have also not built anything of positive value. It is now being used as Arab

army (read "terrorist") training camps, filled with young Arab children being inundated with hatred for anything Jewish and non-Islamic.

Only at the end of the diplomat's visit would we tour Yad Vashem. Our Israeli museum representative would say:

Beloved Guest from one of the Nations of the World, you have experienced the miracle of the return of the Jewish people to our G-d-given homeland. You have seen that this land blooms only when it is filled with Jews. Should you continue to negotiate with terrorists or force us to relinquish even one inch of our country, including for the false claim of "peace", the results, G-d forbid, will be what you view in this museum.

Biblical history has proven that the land of Israel is the only land for us. Recent and not-so-recent history has proven that the Arab nations have no intention of making peace with the Jewish people or, for that matter, living in peace with any non-Islamic nation.

Let me remind you what G-d states to Abraham in the Bible. Those who bless the Jewish people will be blessed, and those who curse the Jewish people will be cursed (Genesis 12:2-3). So, my dear diplomat, go back to your homeland in peace and leave my country alone.
