So Al Jazeera Claims Israel Commits Ethnic Cleansing

Al Jazeera has taken the world by storm – and Al Jazeera America has deep pockets, and a major presence in what is the world’s largest TV market. Al Jazeera is owned by the Kingdom of Qatar, one of the richest countries in the world – and when Al Jazeera was founded, it received a $147 million subsidy from the Qatari government. It continues to receive $100 million annually in Qatari subsidies, according to U.S. Congressional reports.

While the network has long been controversial, recent actions have gone beyond the range of acceptable media bias.  A recent op-ed praised the massacre of Jews who were praying in a Jerusalem synagogue,  and now a new Al-Jazeera project called “Palestine Remix” contains anti-Semitic incitement against Israel.

As the site defines Zionism, “The Zionist movement started in the late 19th century, amidst growing European anti-Semitism.” “Zionists’ early objective was to claim as much of historic Palestine as possible, by driving out as many Palestinians as possible.”

The site notes that “Critics however, argue Zionism functions like colonialism. They point to the violent ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinian population and the building of illegal settlements in the Occupied Territories as evidence of the colonialist behaviour Zionism produces.”

Consider Al-Jazeera’s take on Ethnic Cleansing, and learn that “In the Palestinian context, ethnic cleansing is comprised of three stages. The first is to uproot people from their homes by force. The second stage is to erase their history and connection to the land. The third stage is to make sure they will never return to the land they once called home. The Zionist movement in historic Palestine used ethnic cleansing to target Palestinians in 1948-1950. Israel continues to commit ethnic cleansing against Palestinians today.”

There are many sections on the site, including one about Nakba, which explains “Expelling people from their homes is a war crime. As well as preventing them from returning.  Israel didn't just commit a war crime in 1948 but continues to commit one to this day.”

On the Al Jazeera site, a movie called “Lost Cities Of Palestine” explains that Jaffa, Haifa, Jerusalem and more belong to the "Palestinian people." Hamas is barely mentioned on the site – although “resistance” is often referred to.

There are also quizzes where one can learn that “The Jordan Valley is one of the most important areas of historic Palestine [sic]. Its fertile land has made it an agricultural hub for Palestinians”, or answer the question “Over 2,000 Palestinians were killed during the 2014 Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip, which lasted seven weeks. Of these Palestinians killed, how many were children?”

Hillary Clinton said a few years ago, "Al Jazeera has been the leader in that they are literally changing people's minds and attitudes. And like it or hate it, it is really effective.”  Indeed she is right that it is really effective – but this is gross propaganda which masquerades as journalism.

Judea Pearl – the father of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter kidnapped and beheaded in 2002 by al-Qaeda terrorists – rightfully said that Al Jazeera's… “unconditional support of Hamas's terror in Gaza, the Hezbollah takeover in Lebanon, and the Syrian and Iranian regimes betrays any illusion that democracy and human rights are on Al Jazeera's agenda," and as he said, "weakening the West is their first priority."

Avigdor Lieberman, Israel’s current Foreign Minister, must be heeded when calling for Al Jazeera to stop broadcasting from Israel. As he said, “The U.S. wouldn’t let an Al-Qaida channel broadcast from New York.”  He’s right.

As founder of a leading NY PR Agency, I particularly ask those who work at Al Jazeera America, which describes itself as “unbiased, fact-based and in-depth journalism,” if they stand with this message.  For this language makes clear that the end of the State of Israel is the agenda of Al-Jazeera.
