The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit cleared for publication on Sunday morning the names of two soldiers who served in the Givati Brigade and who fell in battle in the southern Gaza Strip:

First sergeant Nachman Meir Haim Vaknin, 20, from Eilat, and Sergeant Noam Bittan, 20, from Moshav Yad Rambam.

Their families have been notified.

In addition, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that a combat officer and two other soldiers from the Givati Brigade were seriously injured in the incident in which Vaknin and Bittan fell.

It was also announced that a reservist was seriously injured in battle in the southern Gaza Strip.

On Friday evening, the IDF cleared for publication that Sgt. Ben Avishay, 20 from Nahariya fell in battle in the northern Gaza Strip.

Earlier that day, it was cleared for publication that an IDF combat engineer suffered serious injuries during a battle with terrorists in Jabalya in northern Gaza.

The soldier was evacuated for medical treatment, and his family was notified.

Over the weekend, IDF troops continued precise operations against terrorist operatives and infrastructure in eastern Rafah.

During one of the encounters with terrorists in the area, IDF troops identified and eliminated an operative armed with an RPG in a compound adjacent to the troops.

Additionally, the troops conducted targeted raids on terror targets and located weapons, explosive devices, missiles, and RPGs. During an additional activity, the troops located and destroyed a launcher inside a military compound in the area.

In coordination with IDF ground troops, an IAF aircraft struck and eliminated a significant Islamic Jihad terrorist operative who was the Head of Logistics of the Rafah Brigade in the Islamic Jihad. He was responsible for preparing the terror organization for operations against IDF ground troops in the area.
