Following the tremendous and in many ways miraculous achievement of the Israeli military and its partners in defending the country against the Iranian attack last night, many synagogues in Israel, including those in the haredi sector, recited the Psalm of Thanks, Psalm 100, at the end of the morning prayer service.
The Tzohar Rabbinical Organization is calling upon Jews all over the world to add prayers of thanks in the coming days.
The organization is specifically recommending to add the recitation of Psalm 100 known as the “Mizmor L’Todah” following communal or personal prayers.
The goal of adding this prayer is to highlight the good that has been bestowed upon our country and our people and is important to be added alongside our ongoing prayers for the welfare of our soldiers and the immediate and safe return of the hostages.
Chair of Tzohar, Rabbi David Stav said, “Just like we know how to turn towards the heavens and beseech of God to help us in times of need, it is just as important to thank Him for the charity and blessings he has bestowed on us. This was as clear as ever in last night’s remarkable defensive response. Alongside our thanks to Hashem, we express our incredible admiration and gratitude to our army and the greater defense establishment that has been working tirelessly to protect us during this difficult and dangerous time.”
Psalms Chapter 100 תְּהִלִּים (Mechon Mamre translation)
A Psalm of thanksgiving. Shout unto the LORD, all the earth.
Serve the LORD with gladness; come before His presence with singing.
Know ye that the LORD He is God;
it is He that hath made us, and we are His, His people, and the flock of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise; give thanks unto Him, and bless His name.
For the LORD is good; His mercy endureth for ever; and His faithfulness unto all generations. {P}
