For years, Shifra Apfel’s life has been about giving to others. She works hard for a charity organization, getting assistance to those who need it most. Outside of work, she is a selfless Mom, who gives all of her energy to her 7 little children.
Now the tables have been turned, in the most agonizing way.
Shifra is currently fighting brain cancer. The doctors have told her that she must fly to Germany for specialized treatments, or she will die. She would prefer to stay anonymous, to live the quiet life that she always had. But now, to save her life, she has had to do something embarrassing and painful: Open up to the public, and earnestly ask them for help.
This may be the first thing Shifra has done for herself in a while - To ask for the chance to live.
