A poll conducted by the Institute for National Security Studies during the Swords of Iron war revealed that about a third of the Arab public supports the goal of the war: To topple the rule of Hamas in Gaza.
34 percent of the Arab public stated that they support to a great extent or quite a great extent the goal of the war as determined by the political echelon. Only 27 percent of the Arab public supports this goal to a small extent or not at all (17 and 10 percent respectively).39 percent, a large share of the Arab public, answered "I don't know".
In contrast, 96 percent of the Jewish public supports the cause of the war to a great extent or quite a great extent.
About half of the Jewish public said they fear they will be harmed by Arab citizens of Israel. 51 percent of the Jewish public answered that they have no fears, compared to 46 percent who answered that they are not afraid.
The majority of Israeli Arabs do not fear harm from Jewish citizens of Israel. 71 percent of the Arab population answered that they have no fears, compared to 21 percent who answered that they afraid of harm from Jews.
