Israeli officials estimate that the obstacles to the third round of prisoner exchanges will be more difficult to overcome, according to journalist Amit Segal.
The officials believe that the breach of agreement yesterday was caused by a difference between what Israel agreed to and what Hamas believed they were receiving, especially with regard to the number of trucks of humanitarian aid being delivered to the northern Gaza Strip region.
According to the officials, the separation of families was not a breach of agreement because Hamas claims it cannot find some of the relatives to be released. It proposed alternatives for release, but Israel elected to have the young girl released instead.
Since Israel does not plan to breach the agreement, Segal foresees a long and tense day ahead of the planned exchange.
Last night, Hila Rotem, a 12-year-old girl, was released without her mother. The Mossad had pushed for two days for the mother's release as well, without success.
Rotem responded to Hamas' claims: "Mom was with me the entire period of captivity. Hamas separated us from each other two days before my release. My mother's condition was good. We were together with Emily. Hamas notified us that there was a ceasefire and that they were releasing us."
Additionally, the brother of hostage Maya Regev was not released. A day before the massacre, the two had returned from a vacation in Mexico and, from there, proceeded to the music festival, where they were kidnapped by Hamas.
Regev was taken to hospital care upon her release for surgery on her leg to repair a wound sustained during the Hamas invasion.
She was released while still needing crutches. A video released by Hamas shows her walking with crutches while escorted by two Hamas terrorists.
